lessons I’ve learned

Learning from mistakes leads to the right answer.

Listening with empathy is fundamental for success.

Learning is for a lifetime.

Art & Design

These are the lessons I’ve taken to heart as I’ve reiterated my life a few times. I started out as an artist and became a professional graphic designer. I gained a solid artistic foundation in college which I brought into my graphic design solutions. As a graphic artist, I cultivated a love for visual problem solving and beautiful typography.

Teaching & Breakdancing

Next, I pivoted into teaching and breakdancing. I moved to South Korea to understand another culture, meet new people, and become a teacher. I gained so much value from a new culture, a different profession, and an exciting hobby. I learned students’ feelings are more important than tests. I learned I could thrive in a new industry because I was tenacious. I learned I could push my physical limits through breakdancing.

User Experience Design

And now, I’m a User Experience designer who combines all the artistic skills from art and design with the empathetic, social skills of a teacher while looking cool doing it (thanks to breakdancing).
